Five Great Things
The woman that has never been to my house called it a "house of horrors". I call it my "little paradise". The man that has never been invited to my house calls it a "compound". These are all just words, but from where I am sitting right now, my house is one of the five great things I have going for me right this second: it's peaceful, I hear occasional car passing down the street, birds exchanging their greetings to each other, I hear the wind, I see tall trees, and - life in the distance - there is construction, people sometimes, just far enough for my house to still remain peaceful. I feel inside and outside at the same time, the screen doors are open, it's sunny and just so green and beautiful.
They don't like our fence. That is another thing I am grateful for. I do not stare at the fence, the fence keeps us somewhat protected from the wild life, stray dogs and the good people that do not feel like climbing over the fence. We live in the wooded area so you are never 100 percent protected from the wild, occasional possum, snake, who knows what else can and will find its way in, but that's what dogs are for. They know their job and they do it quite well.
Maybe it's just me, but I do not have a tendency to stare straight, I normally look above into the sky, so I don't see the fence I see the trees, the sky, the birds, the Universe. They say I am caged up, but I feel free. In fact I feel freer than I have ever felt in my entire life! Time is the greatest treasure and I have all the time in the world to enjoy every moment I have.
The third great thing is freedom. I have the freedom to be who I want to be, I have the freedom to say and write what I want to say and write, I have the freedom to decide where I want to be and I have the freedom to choose how I would like to feel.
After a certain age you realize that you can run in circles forever or you can just stop and enjoy your life, whatever that life is. If freedom is a state of mind then it is up to us to feel free. Nobody can really tell you if you are free or not because truly we are all prisoners of our bodies, our societies, communities and so far...or are we? Whichever way you choose to feel will be the way you are: free or not free.
Number Four.... I would have to say health. Without your health it is hard to enjoy anything. You can have all the money in the world and if you don't have your mind, you won't even know you have anything at all. If you are hurt and sick, have a toothache or any other ache - it is very hard to keep a smile on and enjoy your life.
And the fifth, but not least - those who love you. Thank you to all the people that love me. I feel their love and I love them back. I dearly hold the moments we are together, because even if it's years after a while it all feels like moments, our memories all make our life feel like moments, either moments of happiness or sadness, but it's all - moments.
I feel that I have more good moments than bad ones. Even the so called "bad" moments of my life at the end feel like the moments of courage, survival and luck and my mind simply interprets them as good, because that's what happens when you have an open positive mind.
Welcome to my life where happiness is a moment when you can slow down and enjoy what you have.
Enjoy your moments of happiness and take time to slow down and be happy...
