4K4F Lala Land
DFPS got in trouble over and over for taking the children from homes and placing them in the worse conditions and worse situations than they were in to begin with, causing life long trauma to parents, children and families effected by their cruelty.
They didn't stop, they didn't change their policies, they didn't REFORM. They took part of the liability off themselves by adding private "non-profit" contractors to handle the "placement" of the child, that is what the child's life called after the removal from home. According to Google there are at least 6 agencies in Texas that act like 4Kids4Families - they call it Community Based Care programs.
The name itself caught my attention: I assumed that number 4 is supposed to mean "pro" or "for", like "in favor of". I was wrong. There is nothing favorable about this organization. 4 is just a number that probably means exactly what it says: if you have 4 kids, the goal is to "place" them and adopt them, even if it's into 4 different families. The goal is to divide and conquer, not to reunite and strengthen.
Little known fact: many DFPS, CPS if you prefer, agents switched their jobs and became employees of these "savior" contractors. It's a well known practice in business world: when the company gets in trouble as a part of damage control the company changes its name to avoid bad publicity. Don't get fooled by the sound of reformation, or the word "ministry" or the talk of compassion. It is the actions that differentiate us as good and bad, not the words. Unless the laws surrounding this organization and its contractors change - nothing will change.
If I would have to describe this organization to the child I'd say this:
"When parents are not careful their children may get taken by the Lost Angels to the 4Kids4Families Lala Land, where in the beginning they will get toys and candy all they want. This land is hidden deep at sea in the Bermuda Triangle of DFPS, 4Kids4FAmilies and the Arrow Ministry, that is only possible to see and enter through the nightmares of Peter Pan; and only the stories of his adventures keep those children connected to their parents. This is the land where parents are not allowed, where parents are prohibited to enter and the parents simply don't exist. In real life those children are lost to the world, they are lost to their families, their loved ones and to all that once knew and loved them."
To make it a hope for a happy ending I would have to add:
"But the parents never stop looking, they enter the cruel turbulent Sea of Civil Law and begin their battle against the Monsters of Family Courts, they fearlessly face Lost Angels guarding the children from their parents and praying to God for strength; they sail one day at a time the current of Timeless Life in hope to eventually be able to see and hug their children again..."
One day at a time is all those parents can do, as once they are swept by the waves of this sea, their lives are out of their hands and all they can do is hang on to the lifesaving hope of higher power they may have in their hearts.
We preach forgiveness, but we practice judgement. If we don't start practicing what we are preaching, then kindness does not stand a chance and when it's your turn to be judged: do you want to be judged by kindness or iron fist?
"Treat others as you want to be treated" are not just words, it's a directive for our survival.
